In this episode Sheena and Patrick look at Speculative Energy Futures’ game-related projects to think about how we might take on various “new worlds”, and explore playful immersion as a powerful tool for reorienting our thinking. Scores for Energy Transition is a dice and cards game devised by Natalie Loveless (University of Alberta) and Scott Smallwood (University of Alberta) housed in our FluxKit. With its provocations and “chance possibilities” it offers great opportunities to “stretch.” The Lost Garden, created by Smallwood, is a moody sound and video experience for those who love video games, and everyone else, too. Perfect Storm is a wonderfully complex game about the cultural and class politics of energy transition created by Sourayan Mookerjea that teaches as it tests the imaginations of its players. As always, use the project links above to our interactive resources to enjoy a visual and auditory encounter with the FluxKit as you listen.
